Game: Game is technically abandonware and unable to be bought new, used copies of base game can be found, but DLCs can only be found on 3rd party resellers sites, fuck them. I'm censoring link to other ways of obtaining the game, but I've heard that one certain fitness enthusiast has a good deal...
APU driver: APU_220520a-377788E-2206021014.zip
Sound driver: cs35l41_062022.zip
AIO VCRed installer: Visual-C-Runtimes-All-in-One-May-2024.zip
- Get Windows 10
- Get the specific APU and sound driver
- If you have abandonware version, setup with throwaway Xbox account
- Get Xbox app from Store
start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9mv0b5hzvk9z
- Do the dance with the other Xbox app
get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage -allusers
start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLHN - Log into Xbox app
- Get FH3
- Install, do not let it sleep
- If it asks during installation, let it install DirectX, DotNet. Otherwise you might have to hunt correct ones later
- If you have an abandonware version, do the crack/unlocker (3, 1, 2, 4, 5, I think it doesnt matter if you do all as admin)
- Install AIO VCRed
- You need to manually run Gamebar and Xbox app before starting game from start menu?
- Pray it works
- Do not let it have microphone permission
- If it crashes on splash screen with no Windows ding, you forgot to install VCRed (or DirectX and DotNet if they were skipped during installation)
- If it crashes on splash screen with windows ding, its maybe Xbox app related?
- If it crashes a few seconds into the main menu screen, its APU drivers
- If it launches, but ingame graphics are fucked, its APU drivers again
